So this was an oil painting of an everyday object, and what could possibly be more "everyday" than keys? I really like this painting a lot. It was actually fun to do too. I liked adding new and different colors in order to made the silver on the keys more realistic. I also liked the color pallette I used. I think the dark navy blue works well with the cool light green background. But the only thing I think I could've improved on is maybe the highlights and shadows. I think this would've made the whole thing pop more. Maybe later I will go back in and do that. But overall I love this piece and I really enjoy working with oil paint because it's super easy to blend! And the title of this piece is "Honey, Where's My Keys?".
The oil apples were interesting because I've never worked with oil paints before. The first apple was painted with paintbrushes and the second apple was painted with a palette knife. I really liked how well the oils blend and the bright colors pop. But with the palette knife it looks horrible. I could not spread it well and I didn't have the right technique. It was just a rough experience. I actually really do like oils with the paintbrushes though, just not the pallette knife.
